Untapped evil: avengers’ greatest foes awaiting their mcu debut

The Avengers, initially assembled to confront threats no single hero could manage, have faced formidable adversaries. While figures like Loki, Kang, Thanos, and Ultron have made their mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a wealth of powerful antagonists from the comic books remains unseen on the big screen.

Here, we delve into some of the most compelling and dangerous Avengers villains who have yet to make their MCU debut, ranging from early foes to some of the team’s most significant adversaries in their extensive history.

Super Adaptoid

Despite appearances in animated series such as Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH, Super Adaptoid, a formidable foe, has never transitioned into the MCU. Debuting in Tales of Suspense 82 as a Captain America adversary created by Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), this villain possesses the ability to mimic powers, shapeshift, alter size, and self-repair. Given AIM’s presence in the MCU, the absence of Super Adaptoid is notable. With the introduction of cosmic-level threats, the opportunity to introduce this adaptable villain may have passed.

Count Nefaria

Count Nefaria, an early Avengers antagonist, first appeared in Avengers 13. A wealthy criminal mastermind, he utilized his vast fortune to acquire advanced technology and wield influence within the Maggia, an international crime syndicate. This ultimately drew the attention of the Avengers. While his criminal activities might seem minor compared to current MCU threats, his potential connection to figures like Sharon Carter could offer a compelling narrative. Endowed with immortality, a potent healing factor, and vampiric abilities, Count Nefaria presents a unique threat profile.

Squadron Supreme

Conceived as Marvel’s answer to the Justice League, the Squadron Supreme, featuring characters mirroring Superman and Batman, has often been portrayed as villains or antagonistic forces in comics and animated adaptations. Despite their potential, the Squadron Supreme has never appeared in the MCU. With the departure of iconic Avengers like Captain America and Iron Man, and Thor’s uncertain future, introducing this powerful team may prove challenging.

The Chaos King

Amatsu-Mikaboshi, a deity from Japanese mythology, is recognized as the Chaos King within Marvel Comics. As the God of Evil and Chaos, he once reigned over the pre-creation void. Banished for eons, he resurfaced, conquered Hell, and clashed with the Avengers. While his inclusion in the MCU could have been impactful, the diminished portrayal of similar beings like Malekith raises concerns.

Molecule Man

Initially a Fantastic Four adversary, Molecule Man evolved into one of Marvel’s most powerful characters, eventually crossing paths with the Avengers. Owen Reece’s immense power might be too overwhelming for the MCU, unless carefully handled. Due to his near-omnipotence, Molecule Man often remains on the sidelines. A vastly inferior version appeared in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Chthon

Chthon’s presence has been subtly established in the MCU through references and statues. The being responsible for writing the Darkhold, a powerful book of magic that played a key role in Wanda Maximoff’s transformation in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Chthon has not made an actual appearance, despite being a recurring antagonist in the comics. His comic debut occurred in Avengers 186, when he possessed Wanda, turning her against her allies.

Korvac

Michael Korvac is arguably one of the most powerful villains the Avengers have ever faced. In their initial encounter, depicted in The Korvac Saga, he eliminated every member of the team. However, influenced by his love for his wife, he resurrected them and departed. He has returned on multiple occasions. A cosmic being with immense power, Korvac’s goal of creating a peaceful world by removing free will presents a complex moral dilemma for the Avengers.
