A recent episode of It: Welcome to Derry featured a shocking death, not at the hands of the infamous Pennywise, but by a character’s own father.
Cristian Bako, the actor who portrayed Milo, has revealed his reaction to his character’s sudden departure and shared insights into working alongside the iconic Pennywise. In episode five, Milo meets his end through his father’s actions, prompting Bako to express his surprise upon learning of his character’s fate.
“I was shocked and surprised because I thought I would make it at least to episode six,” Bako confessed. “But it was a good surprise, to be honest, because I knew it was going to be a great scene. It was a very emotional scene, and it was a pleasure to perform it.”
The death scene is a particularly disturbing moment within the series. Milo’s father is overtaken by an unseen entity, leading to the tragic event. Bako’s performance during this sequence was intensely physical and emotionally raw, adding significant impact to the scene. He described the experience of filming the difficult sequence.
“It was a very challenging scene because it was very physical, and I had to be very vulnerable,” Bako explained. “I had to let go of all my inhibitions and just be present in the moment. It was a very rewarding experience, and I’m very proud of how it turned out.”
Beyond the harrowing scene, Bako also reflected on his experience working with Bill Skarsgård, the actor behind Pennywise. He described Skarsgård as a “very talented actor” and emphasized his generosity on set.
“Bill is a very talented actor, and he’s also a very generous person,” Bako stated. “He was always willing to help me out and give me advice. He’s a true professional, and I learned a lot from him.”
Bako expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in It: Welcome to Derry, highlighting the experience as a significant achievement.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of It: Welcome to Derry,” Bako concluded. “It was a dream come true to work on a Stephen King adaptation. I’m a big fan of his work, and I’m very proud of what we accomplished with this series.” The series continues to explore the dark underbelly of Derry, with unexpected twists and intense performances.
