Apple tv to offer major league soccer matches to subscribers at no extra cost

Beginning in 2026, Apple TV subscribers worldwide will gain access to all Major League Soccer (MLS) matches without incurring additional charges. This significant shift follows a revision to the existing 10-year agreement established between Apple and Major League Soccer in 2022.

The revised terms promise a more accessible viewing experience for soccer enthusiasts globally. From the 2025 season onward, fans across the world will have the opportunity to stream every regular-season match, as well as the annual Leagues Cup tournament, and select MLS Cup Playoff matches, all included as part of their standard Apple TV subscription. Previously, access to MLS content required a separate subscription fee.

This change represents a considerable alteration to the original agreement, effectively eliminating the paywall that previously restricted access to a significant portion of MLS content on the streaming platform. The initial agreement stipulated a dedicated MLS Season Pass subscription for comprehensive coverage.

The implications of this revised agreement are substantial for both Apple and Major League Soccer. For Apple, it positions Apple TV as a more attractive platform for sports fans, potentially driving subscriber growth and increasing engagement with the service. By bundling MLS matches with the standard subscription, Apple aims to broaden the appeal of its streaming platform and solidify its presence in the competitive sports streaming market.

For Major League Soccer, the move promises wider exposure and increased viewership. Making matches available to a broader audience through Apple TV’s existing subscriber base could contribute to the league’s growing popularity both domestically and internationally. The enhanced accessibility is expected to draw new fans and foster a greater sense of connection with the league.

The decision to include all MLS matches within the standard Apple TV subscription marks a pivotal moment in the partnership between the tech giant and the soccer league, signaling a commitment to expanded access and a more integrated viewing experience for fans worldwide.
